HIGHLIGHTS:
- Put a "face to the hair" of the dog whose hair we kept finding in our food at a restaurant. At least he was alive and seemed to be a pet, rather than something we were eating or a total stray. (The fact that this a highlight will indicate the kind of day we had.)
- Sat/slept next to a cool girl from Australia. She'd just been traveling with another LDS kid from Canada. We were meant to be friends. Had cool chat about religion.
- Laid in the sun for 2 of the 4 short hours we were in Hoi Ann (if that's even where we were).
- Didn't die in any of the 951 almost-head-on-collisions in our 26 hrs of bus riding.
LOWLIGHTS:
- After arriving in Hoi Ann from a 16-hr bus ride we found out that just about all transportation would shut down for like 4 days because of the New Year. Unchecked out of the schmancy hotel we almost stayed at and got tickets for another 12-hr bus ride that night so we weren't stuck in that town.
- So filthy and haggered that we "bathed" in the pool at the hotel that we were no longer going to be staying at. Don't judge. We were desperate.
- Got back in the bus that night with 30 other smelly travellers. A fair amount of lugey hocking went on by the possibly inebriated bus driver while his most certainly inebriated sidekick slept in a hammock in the aisle of the bus. Is that even possible, you ask? Guess so.
