Day in Luang

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Finding AMAZING waterfalls that were gorgeous blue instead of the brown/gray river we'd stared at for 2 days.

- Stumbled into some ceremony at the Buddhist temple (temples are everywhere) with a room full of monks singing some kind of chant. The acoustics were so rad. Afterwards, sat and chatted with one of the monks. He was like 23. He gave us friendship bracelet things he'd made himself (they're bright orange like their robes) and said a prayer/song thing while he put it on. For sure my coolest souvenir yet!

- A random Americanized bowling alley in the middle of a foreign and relatively remote town.

LOWLIGHTS:

- After looking hard-core and brave from going off the rope swing, eating it big time as my feet fly out from under me and I land on my bum in the mud.

- A Laotian man who worked at the bowling alley came over to hang out with us while we were watching a game. He brought some microwave popcorn to share ("American style" according to the bag) clearing not forseeing us devouring it all right before his eyes. Oops!

- My buddy came up to me completely drunk and carried on our "inside joke" by screaming at me not to eat his friend.

- We bought fish-on-a-stick (face and all) off the street and actually enjoyed it. So did the stray cat who came up to the table to join us.
