HIGHLIGHTS:
- Saw the president of Vietnam when we were by his house. We waved. He waved. We're kind of a big deal.
- Bought books that were a steal of a deal on the black market. We can get over the fact that some of the pages are missing or upside down, right?
- Found out you can sample the dried fruit before you buy it. Purchased 3 bags of dried fruit and 1 kilo of candy. (...maybe that should be a lowlight...)
LOWLIGHTS:
- Got a sense of what oppression feels like when Blair got in trouble by some guards for putting her hands in her pockets (twice) and I got in trouble by a cop for starting to lay down on a park bench.
- Found out that someone, between the original hotel owner, the new one we went to, and the travel agency, was a dirty liar. Perhaps our bus tickets will leave us stranded at not our final destination. We're not sure.
- Least restful night ever on a bus that would intermittently slam on its breaks and/or honk its horn every 2-5 minutes (remember they drive by sonar radar rather than by sight-or lane lines). A jumpy kid's worst nightmare.
